Hlynur Helgason

Hlynur Helgason (fæddur 1961) starfar sem myndlistarmaður og listfræðingur í Reykjavík. Hann lauk doktorsprófi í listheimspeki frá European Graduate School árið 2011. Hann er lektor í listfræði við Háskóla Íslands og formaður Sambands listfræðinga á Norðurlöndum. Á undanförnum árum hefur hann einbeitt sér að rannsóknum á samhengi íslenskrar samtímalistar, áhrifum hennar og stöðu í fjölþjóðlegu samhengi. Árið 2013 gaf hann út bók sína, *Beyond within: post-cinematic possibilities of play and action*, hjá Atropos Press í New York og Dresden.


Dr. Hlynur Helgason (born 1961) works as an artist and art theorist in Reykjavík. He finished his PhD in Media Philosophy from the European Graduate School in 2011. He is Assistant Professor in Art Theory and History at the University of Iceland and chairman of the Nordic Association of Art Historians. In recent years his research has concentrated on the context of contemporary art in Iceland, her effects and international connections. In 2013 he published his work, *Beyond within: post-cinematic possibilities of play and action*, with Atropos Press in New York and Dresden.
